Junior R&D Packaging Engineer
As a Junior R&D Packaging Engineer attached to the R&D Applications Team, you will be responsible for driving packaging development projects across innovation, core range renovation, sustainability, and margin management. In this role you will leverage your technical, influence, and project management skills and will partner with cross functional teams, internal and external partners to identify, develop and implement packaging solutions for new or existing products.
Responsibilities:
- Project management: create and ensure the execution of technical solutions, analyse risks, develop prototypes, master retro planning, communicate effectively and provide the necessary documentation.
- Set up technical approval plans for new packaging at the laboratory, factory, and transport levels. Actively participate in the organization and execution of industrial trials. Write and communicate the conclusions of the analysis reports.
- Write and update the technical specifications of the packaging.
- Work closely within multi-functional teams (R&D, Marketing, Purchasing, Supply Chain, etc.) and with external partners to develop remarkable packaging solutions that meet market needs.
- Effectively and transparently communicate progress, risks, and major changes of ongoing projects.
- Build, maintain and influence a network of internal and external partners (e.g. suppliers, packaging school, start-ups, organisations, etc.) in order to broaden perspectives, identify opportunities and capabilities, develop an "outside-in" approach in order to benefit from external support and resources.
- Be attentive to the development of new packaging technologies and the activities of competitors to gain knowledge.
- Maintain regular connections with the international packaging community of General Mills in order to share knowledge, discuss technical challenges and align with global strategy and initiatives.
Candidate Profile:
- Master's level in packaging development.
- Mastery of packaging design tools (Illustrator, Solidworks).
- In-depth understanding of the interactions between product, packaging, and industrial equipment.
- Experience with quality and regulatory issues.
- Project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Solid common sense; Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent practice of written and spoken English and French.
