You’ve probably been told at some point in your life that, “you should be networking”. It’s something that we all know about but most of us shy away from.

It’s about expanding our circles, building strong and long-lasting relationships with other professionals that may help us find our next job opportunity.

For those that think that networking doesn’t work or that it’s overrated, studies have shown that up to 85% of jobs are filled through networking. It’s the number one way job seekers will find their next opportunity so why not give it a go.

A good networker will invest time in getting to know people, it’s not all about you and what you want. The more effort that you put in the more likely your connections will be able to help you in the future.

There are so many different ways to network such as networking events but in this current climate and the situation we find ourselves in, online networking is obviously going to be the preferred choice. This will be good news for all the introverts.

The emergence of social media sites especially LinkedIn has made the process of networking so much easier. You may never even meet your connections in person, meaning their first impression of you will be through your online profile.

Some tips for networking via LinkedIn:

  • Make your profile stand out
  • Connect with a variety of people and interact with them
  • Get to know the people you connect with
  • Keep in contact with your network
  • Post engaging content
  • Join LinkedIn groups

As head-hunters we use LinkedIn regularly. We want to understand your career aspirations, what kind of companies and roles interest you so that on your behalf we can look out for your ideal role! Our DM's are open so slide in anytime.
